Description

The Rosette Nebula, one of the most stunning winter targets for astrophotography. The name comes from its circular shape and the deep dark centre gives it a floral appearance. It is quite a big object in the night sky roughly five times the apparent size of the Moon and its best to shoot with narrow band filters to enhance the nebulosity and dim the stars. It is my second time shooting this target but this year with a more advanced deep-sky rig and I couldn’t be happier with the results. It took me three nights to complete this image, using SHO 6nm filters, one each night with a total integration time of 15h hours. As for the processing I used the classic Hubble Palette false colour scheme.
